Pattern: I can't get enough of it

Today has been dreary in Northeast Tennessee. Windy (very), cool and rainy. It's easy for us to feel down on these days. All we want to do is stay in bed, or at least on the couch, snuggle up with a blanket and go in and out of sleep while attempting to watch Lifetime movies.

So knowing the "mood" set forth by the weather for today, I decided to appear/act the opposite: wearing bright colors, pattern, heels and even a cute hair style. Unfortunately, I was running a little late, so my makeup was slacking a little...

I'm ALL about pattern! My personality is friendly, extroverted, and sometimes, loud. Just ask my coworkers.

Even with the rain coming and the threat of flooding, I was feeling so good in my fun attire that I made a stop at my favorite boutique, Serendipity Boutique.

Here are some of my favorite patterned pieces:

Let me first apologize for photo quality. My next purchase is a high quality camera, so these images will improve.

Above are three tops and one dress. The two tops on the left are from Serendipity, brand Tulle.

The dress is also from the boutique.

And, the shirt in the middle is from Anthropologie- my guilty pleasure! I L.O.V.E. Anthropologie. But, I always wait for the sales! If you haven't done this, create an account with wish lists, add your favorite pieces and check back often to see if they are on sale. This saves you time and also helps you from browsing the sale and buying items that you like, but don't love.

Notice my bedding? Also Anthropologie, courtesy of my parents when my husband and I moved to a new city.

Don't be afraid to wear pattern! I love these pieces and there are some extra accents: buttons and zippers.

Style on, friends! And, shop local!

My "Go To" Entire Body Workout

How many of you are busy? What kind of question is that, right?

I actually enjoy excerising... However, my time is limited and it's easy for me to skip a workout with the typical excuses of "I'm just too tired" and "I don't think I have the time."

I know many experts recommend exercising in the morning. But, if anyone is like me, I feel weak in the mornings.

So, I reserve my workout time for the evenings. Usually 7:40 to 8:00.

My routine for tonight is quick, but effective.

Thanks to my former trainer, Adam Mays, for introducing me to kettlebells.

Here's what you'll need:

10lb Kettlebell - although this may seem like a low weight, it's effective!

Do 10 reps for 3-4 rounds.

Kettlebell swings
Kettlebell pulls
Kettlebell overhead press
Kettlebell squats

This workout is great for the entire body!

Click here for some of the exercises and more kettlebell moves.

If time allows, I typically add an ab circuit. I'll offer my "go to" ab circuit soon!

Remember to consult a physician before beginning an exercise program.

Friday Fun Day

This is the day most of us wait for. The day we wake up with a smile, spring out of bed and think "Thank God it's Friday."

My Friday started off better than expected. Multiple alerts from my phone meant one thing- "due to inclement weather, classes are canceled." So, instead of rising at my typical morning time of 5:30, my head didn't rise from the pillow until... 10:30!

I rushed to grab my keys to the car and head to pick up breakfast from a nearby restaurant! I couldn't pass up a lazy day started off with pancakes.

After breakfast I finally decided to shower, get laundry started and plan my day. Those plans mean none at all!

So this Friday Fun Day is all about resting, watching television, visiting my favorite blogs and websites and loving on my baby girl. Her Friday Fun Day consists of sleeping and loving on me. Sounds good, right?

We have to have some excitement on FFD. One of my students had a second interview for a paid internship position with an esteemed company in Northeast Tennessee. During that interview, the interviewer spied a pink wand. This pink wand was given to him by me as a good luck charm. Can you believe he actually took it with him?! That certainly livened-up the interview! Well done! And, the wand seems to be paying off. The interview went well.

That's it for me today. Enjoy Friday Fun Day!
