I've always wanted to start a post series that I could actually maintain, and I think I found the right fit.

Today, I'm starting the FAB 5 FRIDAY series.
Each Friday, I will post the top 5 fab moments of the week.

So, here goes.

There's one more fab moment I need to mention: chatting on speaker phone with both my parents! My mother and I text throughout the day, but there's nothing like hearing both my parents' voices. And, especially after being sick…

What are your fab moments of the week?

How are you shining your light?

The answer is not always the easiest to profess.

While we may have intentions of knowing God and sharing that knowledge with all we encounter, it doesn't always happen...

On Sunday, January 19, my mom and I headed to church and were delighted to discover that our retired pastor, Pastor Jim Smith, would deliver the message. God placed me there for a reason. Pastor Jim shared Matthew 5:14 and I've not stopped leaning on that verse and message since. We each may be the only one to share God's love with others. I've always known that, but needed reminded. Doing is not the same as knowing. I consider myself a naturally fun, helpful, inviting person, but after hearing Pastor Jim, I know I need to always be the light, even if it's for one person. No matter the circumstances, we're given a gift. "You are the light" has resounded in my thoughts more than I can count and I know God wants me to share it with you.

Not long after this message, I heard a commercial refer to the distance that the human eye can see a single light. I researched and found that in the dark, the human eye could see a candle flicker up to 30 miles away. Think about the power your light holds.

Has your light faded or gone out?

Pastor Jim asked, "What happens when a light goes out in an individual?"

Whoever you are, wherever you are, and whatever your role(s), be the light. What will you do?

Hat-no longer available online (Target)  /  Blouse  /  Jeans  /  Wedges (TOMS)

What's a better accessory than a hat on a cold, snowy day?

Laura of Walking in Memphis in High Heels and I had planned to join forces for her Day to Night Series, but a planning conflict and then illness hindered our collaboration. Check out her floppy hat look. When she sent her photo I giggled because we both had leopard on our minds!

I'm quite the fan of hats! With many styles to choose from, hats are not only functional but fashionable. My favorite styles are floppy, rancher, and fedora. This floppy hat has an extra "oomph" with its gold and black chain. And, the best part, it's available at Target, so it won't break the bank. My husband graciously took these pictures on my birthday, which happened to be a gorgeous, sunny day so the hat came in handy! My birthday was January 8... what a time delay, huh?

I've pretty much been living in leggings, but my mom gifted me this wonderful pair of Level 99 jeans for Christmas. Since I had been cooped up in the house due frigid temperatures, I decided to show my jeans off when I finally ventured outdoors. You can't go wrong with a faux fur vest and this leopard print one is purrfect! I'm quite tall so I have a difficult time finding vests long enough. This vest from Serendipity Boutique meets all my wants (and needs). Add a printed blouse and jewelry and you're quite the fashionista. I opted for my TOMS wedges for comfort and warmth- it was still chilly.

I also wear the top combo but switch out the jeans and wedges for black leggings and brown boots.

I also wanted to show my makeup a bit better, so Travis snapped some close-ups. I love wearing a colored liner on the bottom lid and this day I chose blue. Doing this gives your makeup a bit more dimension and can really highlight your eye color. I'm wearing MAC's matte lipstick in Flat Out Fabulous.

For more floppy hats, check out Free People and Anthropologie.

I plan to share a dressed up outfit paired with this same floppy hat since we didn't get to do the Day to Night Series.

Thanks for stopping by!

Bring on Spring! Okay, so maybe it's a bit early to wish for warm rays and green landscapes. But, the colors and patterns of next season are on the horizon. While we're waiting to bare our arms and lose the tights, we can still add some brightness to our looks now. How? Let me show you.
Purple Dress (Betsey Johnson)  /  Pumps (J.Crew)  /  Floral Bib Necklace (BaubleBar)
Blue Dress (Betsey Johnson)  /  Pumps (Jessica Simpson)  /  Earrings (Anthropologie)
Dotted Blazer (HM)  /  Faux Fur Jacket (HM)  /  Jacket (Mango)

A jacket, blazer, or sweater (any basic piece) can go a long way in conforming warm weather pieces into cold weather appropriate looks. I'm a sucker for dresses! Feminine, flattering, and easy-to-wear, dresses can easily carry from season to season. Of course, you can choose other colors than black for toppers, but these are basic, statement pieces.

For brighter days, I found this must-have blazer to accompany dresses, blouses, and even t's. I can't wait! On sale at Zara for $29.99!

Who says we can't stay bright in the winter?

Thanks for stopping by!

Who wears glasses? Who wants cheap eyeglasses? Who doesn't, right?

Several years ago, I noticed I squinted while driving (even on cloudy days) and had frequent headaches. The cause? Of course, my vision wasn't so grand. Not only do I wear eyeglasses, I wear prescription sunglasses. My eyes are very sensitive to light, so I almost always have my prescription sunglasses on. Of course, prescription glasses and sunglasses can get expensive. Contacts: negative. My sight isn't quite bad enough for contacts, nor do I think I could handle them, sensitive eyes and all. is a great source of stylish frames but at lower costs.

The selection of glasses online is diverse, the site is easy to navigate, and best of all, offers designer brands!

I'm loving the Virtual Mirror. You just upload a pic of yourself then view how you look in a selection of frames. I suggest you make an account to reuse uploaded pics for the Virtual Mirror.

Check me out in these! I used the virtual mirror. I have smaller frames, but these are speaking to me. And, only $58 including lenses. Now that's cheap eyeglasses. This pair speaks to my geekiness. is offering a discount to my readers!
Storewide Offer: Take 15% off + get free shipping on your entire order (orders over $50).

The year 2013 seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. I've always emphasized being in the moment and holding onto those moments. I'm amazed at the blessings God showered me with just last year. It was a year of experiencing, with living and learning. I started off 2014 in the best way possible, kissing my husband as the first minute of the year came. And, I couldn't be more excited to live out 2014! If I follow my resolutions, it'll be more than I could imagine.
Happy New Year!

The Holiday Season has came to a close and it was nothing less than stellar! I took a break from blogging to fully enjoy the celebrations. Today, I'm sharing my highs of 2013. I consider last year (wow, seems strange to already refer to 2013 as last year) one of living and learning. I'll share my 2014 hopes soon, but 2013 deserves a nod!

Many of my highs of 2013 came as we closed out the year. But, I'll work to the most recent.
May 2013 I traveled around the globe to Dubai, UAE!
Spring/December 2013 My parents moved into their new home and we finally had family photos made by the wonderful Jessica Leigh Hood.
The husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary, took a few trips, and went on our first hike with my father and relatives (and he convinced me to eat sushi and I LOVE IT).
I ran my first 5k alongside my students.
October 2013 I reunited with high school friends for our 10 year reunion.

Then, came end of the year milestones.
December 2013 I watched my first group of students walk across the stage, which was incredibly emotional!

And, after nine years, Travis and I celebrated NYE and had our kiss as the music note dropped in Nashville.
Oh, and we are now country music sensations!

There have been more many blissful moments of 2013, but including those would require me to write a book. Thank you, Lord, for your blessings and protection. I can't imagine the memories to be made in 2014! Thanks to you all for following me as I write the chapters in my book of life.

God Bless!
